Trauma and PTSD
Trauma can leave you feeling constantly on edge, overwhelmed by distressing memories, or disconnected from yourself and others. You may experience nightmares, heightened anxiety, or find yourself avoiding situations that remind you of what happened. With specialized treatment, you can learn to manage trauma-related symptoms, reduce avoidance, and regain a greater sense of control over your daily life.
Understanding Trauma and PTSD
After a traumatic experience, your brain and body may continue responding as though danger is still present. Avoiding reminders of the trauma can bring temporary relief, but it may also reinforce fear and interfere with daily functioning. Over time, these patterns can affect your relationships, emotional well-being, and sense of safety.
I use Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy, an evidence-based treatment that helps you gradually approach trauma-related memories and situations you've been avoiding. Through this process, you can reduce trauma-related distress, regain confidence, and reconnect with the activities and relationships that matter to you. Treatment is collaborative and tailored to your individual needs.
